Comments: Reported from Calatagan (Ref. 107853) and Leyte Gulf (Ref. 68980). Although found in fish markets (Ref. 5399), flesh of Monacanthidae is generally thin, hard, with a bitter taste, and may cause ciguatera and death if much is eaten (Ref. 12745). Also Ref. 48613, 80989.
