Comments: Type locality: Laguna de Mexcalititan, Nayarit, USNM 130859 (holotype of Gobionellus mystax, 14.17 cm SL, male) (Ref. 55435). Recorded from both the Tres Palos Lagoon, Guerrero and the Baluarte River (Ref. 45915).
