At 11-13 mm, body somewhat oval in shape and very compressed. Head is very large with bony plates. A strong shoulder spine (supra scapular spine) is present. Dorsal fin has 10-11 spines and 16-18 rays. Anal fin has 4 spines and 14-15 rays. Pectoral fin rays about 20. Caudal fin rays 16. The spinous dorsal fin is bright purple with a brownish tinge posteriorly. Pigmentation: Black chromatophores and red pigmented cell groups are present in the body. |
