| Based on histological examination of the gonads, the single male specimen caught off Capo di Monte Santu in March seems to be at post spawning stage -- collapsed testicular tissue, most seminiferous tubules empty, thick interstitial matrix, presence of spermatogonia with a few spermatids and all number
of spermatozoa still visible (Ref. 83500). |
