Comments: Spawning events get slightly later along the coast to the south (Ref. 6390). Spawning is preceded by a post-winter movement to inshore sheltered bays and sandy beaches (Ref. 27648). Ripe fish probably break off from the main schools and form smaller spawning schools (Ref. 27649). Females spawn once each season (Ref. 27646).
