Diagnosis: |
Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Coloration on body lustrous and pretty. Semi-transparent with distinctive large red peduncular spot when adult (Ref. 48635).
Description: Characterized by yellow stripe above midlateral stripe; broad down sloping brown band from eye to middle of side with white and yellow band above and below; cheek with silvery stripe across; greatest depth of body 3.8-4.2 in SL (Ref. 90102). |

Type locality, Tataan Pass, Tawi-tawi; also collected from Saboon I., Ragay Bay where a 2.7 cm SL individual was found gravid (eggs unusually large for a small fish) (Ref. 11356). Recorded from Dauin-Apo I. (Ref. 127519), Calamianes Is. (Ref. 48613). Also Ref. 48613, 48635, 90102. |
