Family:  Leiognathidae (Slimys, slipmouths, or ponyfishes), subfamily: Leiognathinae
Max. size:  11 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine; depth range 3 - 40 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, off Zanzibar, along the Indian coasts and off Sri Lanka. Elsewhere, eastern Indian Ocean and southeast Asia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits inshore coastal waters (Ref. 47581). Feeds on small crustaceans and bivalves (Ref. 5213). Minimum depth range from Ref. 121815.
