Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Borneo to Indo-China and Siam; Langbuan, Busuanga, Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 3-3; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Preserved color very dark dorsally, silver gray to brown on sides, pale below, whitish belly, yellowish glints under head and tail; tip of pointed snout black; fins hyaline. Upper lip strongly protractile. 10 scales from nape to dorsal.

Country info:  Described from four specimens, 5.5 - 8.5 cm, caught at Langbuan, Busuanga, its type locality (Ref. 2929). Also reported from Wayan Creek, a creek at Langbuan, and Pangauron River, Port Caltom, Busuanga (Ref. 280). Reported from Lake Lanao (Ref. 13446). Also Ref. 94476.
