Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine, amphidromous
Distribution:  Asia: Indonesia, Philippines, and Japan. Also southern Taiwan (Ref. 36073). Reported from Melanesia and north-eastern Australia (Ref. 2847). Oceania: Papua New Guinea (Ref. 6771).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8
Biology:  Adults inhabit tidal creeks and river mouths, usually in brackish water, but occasionally penetrate fresh water (Ref. 44894).

Threat to humans:  harmless
Country info:  Specimens were collected from Sohoton Cave and Inuntan, Basey River, Samar in 1993 (Ref. 7223). Type locality, Rio Grande near Cotabato, Mindanao (Ref. 94476). Also Ref. 280, 2847, 7050.
