Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Diaphinae
Max. size:  7.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 588 - 1330 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: 8°N-12°S, extending to 16°S in the Mozambique Channel (Ref. 4066). Pacific Ocean: in tropical and subtropical waters. Reported from New Zealand (Ref. 5755). South China Sea (Ref.74511).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 14-15
Biology:  Oceanic and mesopelagic, found in 600 m depth during the day and between 50-200 m at night (Ref. 4066).
