Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; brackish, amphidromous
Distribution:  Asia: Sri Lanka to New Guinea (Ref. 12693). Reported from Palau (Ref. 6371)
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in streams and rivers. Enters estuaries (Ref. 4833). Usually associated with streams having a gravel or sand substrates. Feeds mainly on filamentous algae and Diptera (Ref. 6028) and also small fishes and crustaceans (Ref. 12693). Not seen in market, but probably sold fresh (Ref. 12693).

Country info:  Specimens were collected from Lagu Lagu creek, Ambacan River, and Calbiga-a creek, Leyte in 1993 (Ref. 7223). Also Ref. 4833.
