Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  5.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 10 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Japan (Ref. 559) to Australia (Ref. 75154); Komodo, Indonesia to Solomon Islands (Ref. 90102).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 9-9. Description: Characterized by light brown body color; head and anterior body with blue spots; silvery to bluish belly; presence of dusky area on caudal fin base, partially hiding small black spot (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  In large aggregations among branching corals in sheltered lagoons and bays (Ref. 9710).
