Family:  Belonidae (Needlefishes)
Max. size:  26.3 cm OT (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 5 m
Distribution:  Western Pacific: waters of the East Indies, Philippines, and New Guinea east to the Solomon and Santa Cruz Islands. Reported from New Caledonia (Ref. 11889).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Coastal species, sometimes entering brackish water (Ref. 9682). Feeds mainly on benthic invertebrates >2 mm (Ref. 11889). Oviparous (Ref. 205). Eggs may be found attached to objects in the water by tendrils on the egg's surface (Ref. 205).
