Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  2.48 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 14 - 29 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Philippines to Australia east to Micronesia and Fiji. Recently reported from Tonga (Ref. 53797).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Description: Characterized by semi translucent to silvery peppered body color with small dark dots overlaid with variable amount of orange dots and dashes; incomplete lateral line with 0-8 tubed scales; light organ with striated pattern; greatest depth of body 2.2-2.4 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  Inhabits sheltered waters of lagoons and bays (Ref. 11890). Occurs in groups (Ref 90102).
