Family:  Sebastidae (Rockfishes, rockcods and thornyheads), subfamily: Sebastinae
Max. size:  51 cm TL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 1,450.0 g; max. reported age: 18 years
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 302 m
Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: San Francisco, California, USA to Cape San Quintin, Baja California, Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabit rocky areas. Reported to reach 64 cm, but specimens over 51 cm may have been the redbanded rockfish, Sebastes babcocki. Viviparous (Ref. 34817).
