Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  4.9 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range - 200 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Guam, Pohnpei, Hawaii, and Rapa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Lachrymal spines 2. Only Micronesian Sebastapistes with cycloid to emarginate scales on its sides (Ref. 37816).
Biology:  Inhabits coral and rubble areas of seaward reefs (Ref. 1602, 58302). Benthic (Ref. 58302). Anterolateral glandular grooves with venom gland (Ref. 57406).
