Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  10.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 1 - 40 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 13-13; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 5-5. Description: Characterized by mottled brown to reddish brown color; lower portion of gill cover with pale-edged dark brown to reddish spot; short dark bands radiating from eye; whitish spots along lateral line; suborbital ridge usually with three spines; pair of small interorbital spines, one on each ridge; depth of body 2.8-3.0 in SL (Ref. 90102).
Biology:  A benthic species (Ref. 58302) found in coral and rocky reefs in 1-40 m (Ref 90102); and caves (Ref. 10482).
