Max. size:  11.6 cm SL (male/unsexed); 12.6 cm SL (female)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 1169 - 5440 m
Distribution:  Northeast Atlantic, Northeast Pacific, Southwest Pacific.; including the Solomon Sea, off New Zealand, and Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 90-107. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: no distinct black spots dorsally and along its midbody; pelvic fin length 1.0-2.2 % SL; dorsal fin rays 90-107; precaudal vertebrae 43-49; origin of anal fin below dorsal fin rays 44-56 (Ref. 128809); with protruding lower jaw and with tissue flaps anteriorly (Ref. 118598).
Biology:  Rare species (Ref. 34024).
