Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Lake Balkhash basin, Kazakhstan (Ref. 1441) and Ili river, Suiding, Huocheng, Emin counties, Xinjiang Autonomous Region (Ref. 33800).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Spawns over stony and gravelly bottoms (Ref. 1441). Unshed eggs are highly poisonous (Ref. 4537).
