Diagnosis:  Anal soft rays: 13-14. Fresh specimens are bright, with metallic green color over dorsal profile while formalin preserved have a streak of gray along center of body and over the dorsal ridge and pale white below the dorsal line.
Biology:  Inhabits open water. Feeds on zooplankton. Breeds during the monsoon season (Ref. 44315). Marketed as sun dried fish (Ref. 44315).
