Family:  Cobitidae (Spined loaches)
Max. size:  10.5 cm SL (male/unsexed); 12 cm TL (female)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Europe: Upper and middle reach of some Danube tributaries in Romania (Arges, Olt, Jiu, Mureş and Tapolitza systems).
Diagnosis:  Presence of a thin, black line along flank. Adipose crests on caudal peduncle weakly developed. Dark spots at caudal base hardly visible. Few (8-13) blotches in midlateral row, often horizontally elongated.
Biology:  Found in sandy streams with clean water and moderate to fast current (Ref. 59043).
