Distribution:  Asia: China (Changhuajiang River basin).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-8; Vertebrae: 26-26. Second dorsal fin rays modally I/8; anal fin rays modally 8; pectoral rays modally 17; scales in lateral series 9-10; predorsal scales 3-4; vertebrae (including urostyle) 26. First dorsal rays lack filamentous extensions. Anal fin origin at vertical of first branched ray of second dorsal fin. Distance between posterior oculoscapular canal pores è and ô about equal to gap between anterior and posterior oculoscapular canals. Body with five to six main greyish-brown blotches. Cheek and opercle with a longitudinal grey stripe. Pectoral fin base with a right-angled black mark.
