Distribution:  South America: Pacific drainages from the Esmeraldas River in Ecuador to Tumbes River in Peru.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In various biotopes, from small to medium-sized rivers. Occasionally found in fish markets. Feeds on benthic organisms such as small shrimps (Ref. 40602).
