Family:  Isonidae (Isonids)
Max. size:  5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 4-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-17; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 21-27. Body strongly compressed and deepest at pectorals. Scales on body small, cycloid; thorax and belly naked. Pectoral fin in a high position, with a round posterior margin. Upper jaw not protractile. A broad silvery band (blackish after preservation) running from pectoral base to caudal fin base. Attains 5 cm SL.
Biology:  Found near shore and in tide pools.
