Max. size:  28.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 0 - 21 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea, Persian Gulf, and the coasts of India (Ref. 5374); and eastern Papua New Guinea (Ref. 11441).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Probably inhabits open sandy bottoms and dives head-first into the sand with the approach of danger (Ref. 5374). Dives into sand to sleep safely at night or to hide when alarmed (Ref. 90102).
