Family:  Cichlidae (Cichlids), subfamily: Pseudocrenilabrinae
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 2 m
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to Lake Malawi.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: clearly prognathous lower jaw; 10-12 gill-rakers on lower part of outer arch (Ref. 55954).
Biology:  Occurs in shallow water (Ref. 5595, 55954) and prefers sandy bottoms, also with vegetation (Ref. 5595). Feeds on small fishes and invertebrates (Ref. 5595).
