Distribution:  Eastern Pacific: southern California, USA to Mazatlan, Mexico and the Gulf of California. Rare north of Baja California, Mexico.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits shallow inshore sandy areas (Ref. 9118). Feeds mainly on small fishes (Ref. 9118).
