Distribution:  Oceania: Arnhem, Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits fast-flowing, shallow creeks with sand or gravel bottoms. Forms large shoals. Feeds from the substrate on algae, microcrustaceans, aquatic insects and detritus Breeding is opportunistic, with peak activity early in the wet season (Ref. 44894).
