Family:  Atherinidae (Silversides), subfamily: Craterocephalinae
Max. size:  6 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Oceania: known only from creeks near Safia in eastern Papua New Guinea on the northern side of the Owen Stanley Range. This is the only member of the genus found north of the Central Divide.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-8; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-10. Branched pectoral rays 11 to 13.
Biology:  Inhabits clear shallow creeks with gravel bottoms.
