Family:  Macrouridae (Grenadiers or rattails)
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 155 - 360 m
Distribution:  Southeast Atlantic: Angola and Namibia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 88-89; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 90. Body scales moderately sized, covered with numerous fine, small spinules. Swarthy, paler on tail and undersurface of head, darker with purplish tinge over abdomen, gill covers and branchiostegal membranes (Ref. 37108).
Biology:  Minimum depth reported from Ref. 27121.
