Environment:  demersal; freshwater, anadromous
Distribution:  Africa: known from coastal rivers of Côte d'Ivoire (Ref. 2938, 7095, 81281). Previously known from the Bia (Ref. 272, 7095, 13331), but has disappeared here after the construction of Lake Ayamé in Côte d'Ivoire (Ref. 30488).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 18-21; Anal soft rays: 26-30. Diagnosis: adipose-fin base shorter than distance separating it from rayed dorsal-fin; body depth 1.8-2.1x SL (specimens over 100 mm SL); small numerous scales; numerous cycloid scales; 68-73 scales in longitudinal line; 13 or 14 scales between lateral line and pelvic fin; 18-21 dorsal fin branched rays; 26-30 anal-fin branched rays (Ref. 2938, 81281). Description: closely related to C. citharus (Ref. 81281). Coloration: body silvery; fins grey, except anal fin and lower lobe of caudal fin which are red (Ref. 2938, 81281).
