Family:  Claroteidae (Claroteid catfishes), subfamily: Claroteinae
Max. size:  23.2 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: lower to upper Congo River (Ref. 78218), but only in the lower Congo basin according to Ref. 3236, which reidentifies specimens from the middle and upper Congo basin as C. cranchii and C. habereri respectively.
Diagnosis:  Description: post-cleithral process well developed (Ref. 75075).
