Max. size:  4.65 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 21 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: endemic to Cargados Carajos.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21-22; Anal spines: 2-3; Anal soft rays: 12-13. Dorsal-fin rays II, 21-22 (usually II,22); anal-fin rays II-III,12-13 (usually III,13); predorsal scales extending to point ranging from vertical above anterior supraotic to just short of anterior interorbital pores; lateral scale series 42-48; ctenoid scales beginning at 2-6 transverse scale rows behind gill opening; orbital rim brown (orange to olive in life); and caudal fin 18.5-21.4 % SL (Ref. 57771).
Biology:  Collected from drop-offs, surge channels and coral and rocky reefs (Ref. 57771).
