Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 15 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 21-21; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 17-18
Biology:  Inhabit coral rich areas of lagoon and seaward reefs (Ref. 9710). Occur in small groups. Oviparous (Ref. 205), monogamous (Ref. 52884). Oviparous (Ref. 205). Form pairs during breeding (Ref. 205). Relatively unknown to American and European aquarists because this species has only been rarely imported.
