Distribution:  South Pacific Ocean: off New Zealand. Central northern Chatham Rise, Hikurangi Plateau.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 51-51; Anal soft rays: 45-45; Vertebrae: 60-60. This species is distinguished by the following characters: vertebrae 60, dorsal fin rays 51, anal fin rays 45, pectoral fin rays 37, caudal rays 12; head 22, disk 4, anus-anal fin 28% SL; each nostril has a distinct dorsoposterior flap or lobe; color of body brown, fins blackish (Ref. 92437).
