Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 8-8; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 8-8. Body depth high and each fin rounded. | |||
Biology: | Occurs solitarily around boulders scattered on sandy and muddy bottoms in bays. Breeding occurs from July to September. Males brood eggs in the mouth (Ref. 559). | |||
