Remarks Occurs inshore (Ref. 75154). In Japan, it is found in areas of mixed sand, rock and coral. Feeds by sorting small animals from mouthfuls of sand and detritus (Ref. 36378). Juveniles were observed to mix with other similary-sized fishes such as goatfishes (Ref. 128523).
