Remarks Oceanic and mesopelagic, with marked stratification of size with depth. Generally non-migrant or only short diel vertical migrations. A selective daytime feeder on copepods (mainly Pleuromamma and ostracods, Conchoecia). Consume primarily copepods (Ref. 51328).
