Remarks 'Winnipeg', i.e., of the Winnipeg River, SW Ontario and SE Manitoba, Canada, The goldeye occurs only in North America and there is an isolated pocket of distribution in Quebec and Ontario (Canada) immediately south of James Bay; 'goldeye', i.e., the name is derived from the prominent eyes with large bright yellow pupils (Ref. 1998).
