Remarks 'sucker', from 'suck' from Indo-European base '*seug, *seuk-', i.e., an imitation of the sound of sucking from the mother's breast (p. 509, Ref. 11979); 'fish' from Germanic 'fiskaz' from same source as Latin 'piscis' from Indo-European word 'piskos' (p. 229 in Ref. 11979); 'white', from Indo-European '*kwitnos' or '*kwidnos', formed from same base as Sanskrit 'sveta', i.e., white and Russian 'svet', i.e., light (p. 573, Ref. 11979).
