Remarks Formerly applied to Tragulichthys jaculiferus. Porcupinefishes and Burrfishes have prominent spines covering their heads ad bodies (Ref. 5288). 'porcupine', i.e., spiny pig, from Latin 'porcus', i.e., pig and 'spinus, i.e., spine (p. 404, Ref. 11979).
