Remarks 'Laker' comes from 'lake' and maybe used for this lake-inhabiting species; 'lake' from Old French 'lac' from Latin 'lacus' of the same source as Gaelic 'loch' and Latin 'lacuna', i.e., hole, pit, pool (p. 316 in Ref. 11979).
